Quilted Window

I showed you a snapshot last week and here it is finished:

Pattern is my own design based off a window frame I spotted biking through Downtown Columbus last summer.  My inspiration translated quite literally, just short of measuring the actual window.

The “frame” is 100% linen that I chose for its ultra slubby texture and color.  The interior is Kona (probably Bahama?).  The finished quilt measures 35″ x 46″.

Details of quilting (walking foot chevron with linen colored thread):

The quilt is backed in old sheets and a tablecloth.  The floral sheet is a favorite of mine and these are some of the last scraps of it.  That and the white polka dot sheet were thrift finds.  The green tablecloth is from my Grandparents’ house.

I feel happy to get this out of my sketchbook and into a quilt.  I learned a few things by creating my own pattern and am thankful for it.  And as with most handmade projects there are a few things I would change if I did it again.
